Dileep Sharma : "Kunwarji's Ground"

Bose Pacia is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings and sculptures by the Mumbai-based artist Dileep Sharma entitled "Kunwarji's Ground."

Sharma's figurative paintings are actually large-scale watercolors on paper, detailed with precise line work in ink. His compositions and technique exhibit a superb control of his medium, communicating through exuberant color and a careful balance of positive and negative space. The current body of works illuminates action figures from the world of sports, abstracted by the artist's signature style of color blocking and distortions of scale. These contemporary characters begin to resemble the apsaras and demons of mythology, caught in the contorted poses of exertion and competition.

Also on view will be the artist's first works of sculpture, three pairs of female legs seductively poised, disembodied, and provocatively displayed.
