Ramakrishna Behera's paintings incorporate landscapes and domestic interiors. In so focusing his works fall within a well-established trajectory of traditional painting within art history. One might consider his compositions as a Van Goghian Impressionism meets deep space. The landscapes are inspired by real locations: the caves of Ajanta, the mountains and monasteries of Ladakh, the countryside of Orissa, and even the artist's own home. More than depicting merely an interpretation of what the artist sees he is breeding the physical spaces in sight with intangible notions of volume and dimension. The result is a fantastically balanced birth of distorted perspectives and psychological mapping. The artist's Reflections of Tarkovsky is an excellent example of this patrimony. The painting can be seen as a visceral incarnation on the spiritualism and metaphysicality found in Andrei Tarkovsky's films.

Born in Bhubaneswar, India, in 1977, Ramakrishna Behera lives and works in Bihar. He is a self-taught painter and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from IIT Roorke. He has previously participated in group exhibitions in Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, and New Delhi. In 2007, the artist had a solo exhibition of his paintings and drawings at the All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society (AIFACS) in New Delhi. This exhibition is Behera's first solo exhibition with Bose Pacia in New York.
