Brooklyn, NY…Transparent Studio at Bose Pacia is pleased to announce the current artist-in-residence, Priyanka Dasgupta. Dasgupta will create a life-size, mechanical shadow puppet inspired by her grandmother, which clutches objects to maintain control over her physical environment and manage the frustration of fading memories. Grappling with the duality of material dependence and ephemeral life, Dasgupta explores the resulting conflict in her new work and through collaborations with interdisciplinary artists. During her residency, she will continue investigating the connections between digital video and sculptural installation.

Events:
Thursday, August 2: A sharing of work in progress and opportunities for collaboration.
Thursday, September 6, 7-8pm: A discussion of Priyanka’s process and upcoming projects with mentor, artist and educator Simon Leung, within the context of his own work.
Thursday, October 4, 7-10pm: Priyanka will be joined by theater group, BILLY & COMPANY, for a very special two-part Open Studio event including a discussion and a staged reading of A Dream Playby August Strindberg, a collaborative and inter-disciplinary work in progress to be produced by Billy & Company in November 2012.

About Transparent Studio at Bose Pacia, NY:
Launched in January 2012, Transparent Studio is an artist residency program founded by Bose Pacia. Emerging and mid career artists are chosen for the studio program through a submissions process based on project proposal and artistic merit. Residents are provided with a studio in the main gallery space for a 1-3 month period. By turning the transitional gallery space into temporary artist studios on the street-level in an active arts neighborhood, we are hoping to allow for an atmosphere of engagement and conversation around the creative process. During the residency, the public is invited to interact with the artist throughout their creative process allowing exchange and collaborative relationships.
